In order to get ahead of population growth and sustain growth in the city and surrounding area, the City of Granbury is in the process of constructing a new water treatment plant.
The current surface water treatment plant, constructed in 1985, is being replaced with a new reverse osmosis water treatment plant. Based on population growth projections, this new plant helps ensure Granbury will have a clean, safe drinking water supply for decades into the future.
The new plant is being constructed on the same site as the current plant. The demolition part of the construction is finished, and crews are working on forms for the new buildings.
With about 20% of the work finished, the first phase of the three phase project is scheduled to be ready to go in fall 2017.
